‘Getting Noticed in a Group’ – One Day Customised Workshop

Group Discussion, Public Speaking and Corporate Communication skills are essential for a successful career. Keeping the same focus, GLBIMR organized a one day Customized Workshop, “Getting Noticed in a Group”, under the guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR for PGDM 2016-18 batch. The resource person of the workshop was Ms Vatsala Agarwal, Eminent HR Consultant.

This workshop focused largely on Group Discussions (GD) skills, which is most of the times an inevitable screening round used by organizations, to gauge the personality traits of a candidate during the Recruitment & Selection process. Therefore, to enhance the GD skills of the students, they were given an array of innovative topics and mock GDs were conducted & recorded. Later these videos were shown to them, to analyse their overall conduct during the GD, and work upon the shortcomings. The workshop honed the GD skills of the students. This workshop was followed by a Speak-up session on March 24, 2017, to de-brief the learning and discuss the overall experience of the workshop. Students came up and shared their learning and feedback. The Workshop improved their ability to think critically, handling disagreement & cross questioning in a group and most importantly improve the confidence to “speak up’’. Such sessions facilitates fast paced leaning with extensive practical exposure.
