Director General invited as the keynote speaker for an International Seminar on Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Smart Cities of India – I&ESC 2018 organized at IIT Delhi on 11th December 2018
With much pride and honour, we share that, Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, Greater Noida was invited as the keynote speaker for an International Seminar on Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Smart Cities of India – I&ESC 2018 organized at IIT Delhi on 11th December 2018. The agenda of the session was “Focus on Heads of Academic Institutions and the future of Education”.
Dr. Makkar shared her views on the topic: “– Smart learning in Smart cities”. She highlighted that the purpose of the Smart Cities Mission in India is to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of people by enabling local area development and harnessing technology, especially technology that leads to Smart outcomes. She also emphasized that Smart cities, do not exist in a vacuum. At the heart of smart cities are smart institutions of higher education. These institutions should prepare students to live, work and innovate in a smart city. They should also act as testing grounds for new ideas, projects and experiments. By seeking out certain opportunities, institutions can play a pivotal role in the success of any smart city. The rise of smart cities can bring many new opportunities for higher education and the students they serve.
The session moderator of this panel discussion was Sarfraz Hasan, Group CEO, Ureka Education Group while the other eminent co-panelists were Prof. Harsh Mishra, IIT Delhi, Prof. Philippe Bouvier, President Urban Value Creation Institute, Mr Abhilash Misra, CEO, NSE Academy Ltd, Ms Radhika Shrivastava, Executive Director, FIIB, New Delhi and Prof. MP Gupta, HOD, Dept of Management Studies, IIT Delhi.
The seminar witnessed participation of premier Indian government institutions as co-organizers and International Experts, Leading Business Leaders, Government Officials, Smart City Council Representatives and Head of Academic Institutions and 400+ delegates. Every session witnessed the speakers sharing their resourceful insights on the topic. The event took the intellectual quotient of the city to next level.
