GLBIMR Students Participated in ASSOCHAM International Summit on “IPR and Piracy issues in Entertainment and Media Industry” organized in Hotel Leela, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on December 13, 2018. GLBIMR students are regularly provided various platforms to learn & acquire exposure to the corporate world; Corporate Interface Series (CIS) is one of the most successful corroboration of the same,under the guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR.
Eminent dignitaries like Mr. Frank D’Souza, Partner & Leader Entertainment & Media Sector, PwC India, Mr. K.V. Rao, Chairman, ASSOCHAM National Council of Entertainment & Media and Vice President, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Matt Andrews, Counsel, Global Copyright Protection, Netflix and Mr. Sandeep Marwah, Founder & President, AAFT and President, Marwah Studios graced the occasion. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Uday Kumar Varma, Secretary General, ASSOCHAM.
The experts highlighted the issues of piracy in Entertainment & Media Industry and discussed the strategies to tackle piracy concerns. They threw light on the current laws in India related to piracy and role of investigating agencies. They also emphasized the role of Big Data and Analytics to track piracy and stressed upon the collaboration of various agencies to resolve this issue.
The event was a great exposure for students as it enlightened them with the issue of piracy and ways to resolve it. The event also provided them a wonderful opportunity to meet and interact with leaders of eminence from the industry. The students also raised questions to experts after the panel discussion. It was a very engaging experience for the students under the CIS Platform.
