29 Students of PGDM Batch 2019–21, under GLBIMR’s Corporate Interface Series Program went for Industry visit to the Sulabh International Social Service Organization (SISSO) Sulabh Gram, Palam Dabri Road, New Delhi on September 06, 2019.
They were led by faculty in-charge, Dr. Dileep Singh. Students were taken to the unique Sulabh Toilet Museum by Sulabh officials, Mr. Mohan Kumar and Mr. Sudhir Mishra. They were briefed about the revolutionary two pit toilet model which requires only one litre of water to flush. They were also shown process of sanitary napkins making at Sulabh. Apart from these, students got an overview of the Sulabh bio- gas plant producing electricity as well as cooking gas used in kitchen. They also tried their hands on innovative Sulabh water ATM.
They were also explained in detail about various social initiatives taken by Sulabh such as medical and meal support for the widows at Vrindavan, operation of vocational training institute and Sulabh School affiliated to CBSE for under privileged children of scavengers.
At Sulabh International, students got an insight into the successful application of social business models which can have poverty reducing benefits if multi-nationals work with civil society organizations, cooperatives, local governments and local people to create a sustainable business models
