webinar on the topic “COVID-19: A Learning Opportunity for Higher Education"

Faculty of GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, Greater Noida attended a webinar on the topic “COVID-19: A Learning Opportunity for Higher Education" on Saturday, April 18, 2020 in which the panelists discussed about how to convert this challenging time into learning opportunity for higher education & also discussed about the initiatives taken by MHRD for engaging faculty and students.

Mr. Neeraj Arora, Senior Director & Head, National Council of Education was the moderator of the session & Shri Kalraj Mishra, Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan was the key note speaker of the session. Other eminent panelists were Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, President, ASSOCHAM, Prof. K K Agarwal, Chairman, National Board of Accreditation, Dr. Prashant Bhalla, Chairman, ASSOCHAM National Council of Education, Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, Co-Chairman, ASSOCHAM National Council of Education, Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Innovation Director, MHRD's Innovation Cell and Dr. Amarendra Pani, Joint Director, Research Association of Indian Universities.

During the session, Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani shared that in this time of crisis, teachers as an educational fraternity are developing qualities like curiosity, commitment & collaboration for better results. Prof. K K Agarwal congratulates everyone on the success of online education that got implemented all over the country in short time. He also recommended that now is the time where Higher Educational Institution (HEI) should be ready with the blended mode of learning for future. Shri Kalraj Mishra shared his plan of action for enhancing quality education and its delivery & emphasized that by online teaching, faculty should engage the students. Dr. Prashant Bhalla put forward his idea for financial assistance from regulators for students and request for a protocol design for HEI-How to go about after pandemic. Dr. Mohit Gambhir shared schemes and initiatives taken by MHRD for the faculty and students. Lastly, Dr. Amarendra Pani emphasized that this is the time of introspection for universities to see whether their system for digital education mode is in place or certain measures are required.

Overall, it was a highly informative and insightful session.
