G.L. Bajaj Institute of Management & Research. PGDM Institute, Greater Noida conducted Webinar under Expert Talk Series on “Adapting to Coronavirus Stress - The Military Way/ Learning From Armed Forces” on Friday, August 07, 2020 for the students of PGDM Batch 2019-21 under the patronage of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions and in the insightful headship of Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director, GLBIMR. The speaker of the session was Air Marshal P K Roy PVSM AVSM VM VSM.
The event started with the invocation of Goddess Saraswati. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director, GLBIMR expressed his concern and stated that it’s a challenging time for all of us. He added that it all depends on us how we manage and cope up with this stress. He also encouraged everyone to learn from the armed forces about how they are overcoming their anxiousness and keeping themselves self motivated throughout this crisis situation.
Air Marshal P K Roy started on a positive note and hoped that Covid-19 will end soon. He explained that stress is an adverse reaction of the people to excessive pressure. He shared that loneliness is the root cause of stress, so the first thing to reduce loneliness is to think positive and try to connect with the good and positive people. He expressed his concern and said that country’s youth is so involved in internet that they have forgotten the importance of physical and mental exercises. He guided the youth to manage stress and try to take a good sleep instead of watching Netflix series. He also emphasized to take inspiration from the armed forces who continuously work on their physical and mental health. He also motivated the students to always look for positivity and elaborated that if you are ambitious about your goals then nothing can stop you from achieving them. He also compared the current situation with lifestyle of armed forces. He further added that ‘chaotic mindset creates chaotic environment’, so to come out of this negative mindset, individuals must have a positive outlook towards life. He also discussed the negative impact of social media on the minds of students and advised them to remain cautious. Before concluding, he discussed the role of leaders in this time of crisis and said that they must listen to the problems and should motivate the people to instill a sense of togetherness in their minds. Finally, he suggested all to find out the root cause of any problem and devise ways to overcome it.
