GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research. PGDM Institute, Greater Noida in association with Wealth Asia Advisory Solutions LLP organized One Day Management Development Program on “Investing is Simple - Know the Quick Tools & Techniques” on Sunday, September 06, 2020 under the patronage of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions and in the insightful headship of Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director, GLBIMR.
The Key Resource Person for the session was Dr. Shuchita Singh, Associate Professor, GLBIMR.
During the session, Dr. Shuchita Singh shared that investing is half about mind set and half about finance. She discussed the behavioral aspects of investing and also highlighted the behavioral mistakes which lead to further huge losses in the future. She explained the ‘Concept of Portfolio’ i.e. a collection of financial investments like stocks, bonds, commodities, cash and cash equivalents that include closed-end funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). She also advised the participants to analyze the business viability of the company and further elaborated that viability in business sense is the ability to survive. She explained that barriers to entry, free cash flow, product of daily utility and clean account books with sound and dedicated management are the preliminary criteria’s to select a stock for investment. She also explained the conceptual importance of ‘Financial Ratios’ to identify the right stocks. She further elaborated that in stock investing; financial analysis of the company before selecting stocks would be beneficial in the long run.
Later on, all the participants were assessed about their progress through four sets of quizzes conducted throughout the session.
The MDP witnessed a total of 22 Investment Advisors and Investors of the organization. This MDP helped the participants to understand the stock quality for a winning portfolio, key tools and ratios that every investor should know even without the knowledge of finance and also helped to learn about how to identify good stock and which one to avoid. Overall, it was an informative and an insightful session.
