One Day Workshop on Excelling in Group Discussions at GL Bajaj Institute of Management and Research. PGDM Institute:

GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research. PGDM Institute, Greater Noida organized One Day Workshop on “Excelling in Group Discussions” for Trimester One students on Monday, September 21, 2020 for the students of PGDM Batch 2020-22 under the patronage of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions.

The session started with an invocation to Goddess Saraswati. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director, GLBIMR emphasized on the importance of Group Discussions (GD) in academic and professional life. He inspired the students to incorporate collaborative learning pedagogy in group discussions and also advised them to focus on content and communication skills.

The Resource Persons for the workshop were Dr. Prachi Agarwal, Prof. Arpana Kumari, and Prof. Palak Srivastava, faculty members of GLBIMR.

During the session, faculty members explained as to what Group Discussions mean, types and strategies to succeed in them. They shared the success mantra to succeed in a GDs, i.e. Content-Communication-Confidence. They discussed various approaches of GDs, such as KWA, VAP, SPELT, etc. They advised the students to focus on quality of discussions rather than quantity. They emphasized on the significance of proper body language in GDs and also advised the students about how to summarize a GD. She asked the students to participate in the GD exercises and Self-Assessment Forms were shared with them in which six students participated on the topic “COVID-19 is wake up call for the industry”. The second round of GD practice session was on the topic “Roses are red, Crows are black” in which another six students participated. Faculty members compared the two practice sessions of GD and stated that the first round of GD excelled well.

The workshop apprised the students with the skills and knowledge required to excel in Group Discussions.

Overall, it was a very informative and an engaging session.
