Webinar under Global Talk Series

GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, PGDM Institute, Greater Noida organized Webinar under Global Talk Series on “Future Proofing of Your Career in the World of Uncertainty: How to make your Management Education worthwhile” on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 for the students of PGDM Batch 2020-22 under the patronage of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions. The speaker of the session was Prof. Atul Parvatiyar, Director, Center for Sales & Customer Relationship Excellence, Texas Tech University, Rawls College of Business.

The session started with an invocation to Goddess Saraswati. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director, GLBIMR welcomed the guest and thanked him for sharing his insights on this pertinent topic in today's challenging times. He shared that it’s a privilege for the GLBIMR family to listen to his words of wisdom and his valuable views would help the students to deal with these challenging times.

During the session, Prof. Atul Parvatiyar discussed the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on various sectors. He highlighted that the future is not only about concentrated growth but also about remote working and doing value addition globally. He shared his views on the future of management education and highlighted the bleak future of traditional management courses and emphasized on introducing specialized courses like healthcare management, logistics management, etc. He emphasized on the importance of new technologies like Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and advised students to do something innovative to survive in this competitive environment. The students asked queries related to their career in this world of uncertainty and how to improve the quality of professional education in India to which he replied that quality depends on two factors - what education emphasizes on and what kind of students the institution has. He also highlighted that students are equally bright in India and in developed nations but the difference is that students in the west ask genuine questions during the learning process to enhance their knowledge. He suggested the students to put in their best efforts to learn effectively. He advised faculty members to explore ways to unlock the potential of their students. He further added that everything the students learn would help them to build a successful professional career ahead. He also advised the students to update themselves with the IT tools and techniques to increase their employability.

At the end, Prof. Atul Parvatiyar was awarded an Honorary Membership of Global Advisory Council (ICPEI) as a token of appreciation for his invaluable contribution towards industry-academia collaboration.

The session encouraged the students to accept this time of uncertainty in a positive way and also provided them an understanding of how to utilize their academic session in a more productive way.

Overall, it was an engaging session. Finally the session concluded with Vote of Thanks.
