Under the unique initiative of ‘Corporate Interface Series’ (CIS), taken by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR; 18 students of PGDM Batch 2017-19, along with faculty members of GLBIMR participated in an interactive session with Professor Phyllis Tharenou , Vice President and Executive Dean, College of Business, Government and Law at Flinders University, Australia on “The Relative Role of Monitoring in the Career Success”. The session which was held on July 19, 2017, at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, was organized by Delhi Management Association (DMA) and chaired by Mr. Sidhartha Ganguly, Vice President, Corporate HR, Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd.
During the session Professor Phyllis emphasized on the importance of mentoring programs for working professionals and students in academic institutions. She covered the concept of formal and informal mentoring and highlighted the importance of coordination between the mentor and mentee. She also shared revealing of her own longitudinal research on mentoring female employees and mentoring programs of Australian Human Resource Institute and National Insurance Broker Association, Australia. It was a highly interactive session and students asked their queries related to the session and critical success factors to identify suitable mentor and get the maximum benefit out of mentor mentee program.
